Why am I offering nutrition counseling for only $155?
Necessity is the mother of all invention and the Nutrition with Rachel service is no exception.
After talking about every nutrition topic in the world with strangers, co-workers, random Facebook questioners, track teammates, friends, family, and everyone in between, I realized I needed a better system than to be the sidewalk prophet of nutrition.
I am passionate about seeing people feel better. Nutrition is so much more than just food and calories. That's barely the tip of the iceberg. I want to shout it from a mountaintop. “There is a better way!” “You don’t have to get diabetes!” “Stop using margarine! Just eat butter!"
I’m only charging $155 because I want all people to have access to a nutrition coach and I enjoy doing it. Life is more than money.
Why am I qualified to offer nutrition counseling?
I am a registered and licensed dietitian with documented training and experience. My license is issued in the state of Idaho and you can see it in the Board of Medicine Public Records by searching my maiden name "Rachel Estep."
What have I been doing all my life?
I live in beautiful North Idaho although in the past I have called many places home. My childhood was spent on U.S. Air Force bases in Utah, Guam, Southern Idaho, and Western Washington. I consider my hometown Lacey, Washington, which is about an hour south of Seattle. In my adult years, I lived in Moscow, ID, Spokane, WA, Coeur d’Alene, ID, Pocatello, ID, and Pinehurst, ID.
My Bachelors of Science degree is from the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!). In high school and college, I ran cross country and track. During my undergrad, I was accepted into a nationally accredited dietetics program and studied nutrition, interpersonal counseling, cultural cooking, medical nutrition therapy, biochemistry, global food systems, and everything else it takes to become eligible to take the national registered dietitian exam. After graduating, I passed that exam, applied for licensure and became Rachel Ewing, RD, LD!
Once I got my RD credential, I went to work in the professional world. I worked for a large natural foods store in Coeur d’Alene called Pilgrim’s Market. I worked as the store dietitian and loved every minute of it. Inside the market used to be the fully functional Pilgrim's Wellness Clinic, which generously hosted my private practice. Everything about Pilgrim’s was brilliant, and my time there served as the catalyst for my journey, or pilgrimage if you will, into studying the holistic philosophy of health and nutrition from which I now live and practice. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of teaching sports nutrition to collegiate athletes at Idaho State University, managing corporate wellness programs, working as a clinical dietitian at Portneuf Medical Center, and most recently serving as director of school nutrition for my community's local school district.
Life for me revolves around my family, husband Ryan, daughter Mariah Joy, soon-to-be-born baby boy, and my beloved friends. My purpose is to bless every person I meet and interact with by providing love, freedom, hope, compassion, and service.
